Not This, Nor That.

I admire the light spectrum a lot, gentle playful dance of light diverging into an array of shades.
I love how people say that darkness is the mere absence of this array of colours. And yet when you mix all your colours, or concentrate a colour too much, it’s nothing but black like darkness.

Advaita vedanta discusses a lot it in great logical detail.

(please note the word is “vedanta” which means derived from the vedic wisdom and interpreted for a certain Philosophy. The word “vedic” would indicate something followed through as in the vedas; which some would consider religious. I am not among them, and this post focuses on the philosophical school of Advaita.)

I found myself humming a tune from my childhood, craving the extreme light and calm feeling it always brought to me. Now I believe, I can say that I understand the reason.

“I am not the mind, intellect, ego or consciousness; Nor am I the elements of earth, water, fire, air or space. I am pure awareness and bliss: I am Shiva, I am Shiva.”

Nirvana Shaktam, Adi Shankaracharya.

As a child of mere eight, when asked who he was, this Advaita scholar replied through a bunch of verses. Each stating what he is not, the mind, the place, the ego; but only Shiva.
The ultimate energy source everything is created from.

“Not this, nor that” or “Neti, Neti” is a process much loved by this philosophy to conclude the non-dualistic nature of the universe.

Then why do so many easter philosophies constantly focus on transcending the body, mind and everything to attain Nirvana.

You and I both have been miserably fooled my friend.
Nirvan is never attained.
Nirvana is found.
It’s the homeostasis of our very being, and we simply need to find our ways back to it, not like an internal perpetuity that it forgets its worldly existence but the one that completely integrates its mind and body.

I have been running away using intellect as an escape to the things the body was feeling. The body has imprints of the mind, and the mind responds to the ques of the body.

You can not transcend without embodiment.
So, let’s look at the much ignored flip side of this world.
The world of “Thus Tho Art” and “So it is”

next post discussed a little of Yoga Nidra too.

One response to “Not This, Nor That.”

Indeed, you are correct: black stands as the mother of all colors, the source from which every other hue emerges. It embodies the very essence of the primordial void, from which our vibrant universe unfolds.
